The Carroll County Sherrif's Office, Carrollton Police Department and Kentucky State Police arrested 16 people Thursday night who officials said are $126,300 in arrears on their child support payments.

Police are still searching for six more people who make up more than $181,000 in alleged unpaid child support, according to the sheriff's office.

Officers divided into three teams of four law enforcement officers and set out Thursday afternoon to find 15 men and 7 women who have warrants for their arrest for not paying child support. The roundup was also coordinated with the County Attorney's office.

Kentucky law states that failure to pay more than $1,000 in child support is a Class D felony punishable by one to five years in prison.
