Quick actions by homeowners John and Marsha Jones got firefighters on the scene quickly and helped limit the spread of a Sunday morning fire that started in a garbage can.
Carrollton Fire Chief Greg Beck said Monday that while Marsha Jones and a neighbor were calling 911, her husband John and a neighbor were out back using three fire extinguishers to limit the spread of the fire.
“It started in the Rumpke trash can at the rear of the structure,” Beck said of the fire. Carroll County Dispatch received the call at 9:41 a.m.
