Advent celebrates the coming of the Lord Jesus

The New Year in Christian circles begins four weeks before Christmas. We call this season of preparation Advent, which simply means “coming.”

On each of the four Sundays of Advent, we light one of the four candles on the Advent wreath. It is a symbol of looking forward to the coming of Jesus. As the light on the wreath grows, so does our joy and anticipation for the feast of Christmas.
