The Army Corps of Engineers Louisville District has preliminary repair plans underway to fix the Markland Lock Gate near Warsaw.
The downstream lock gate on the 1,200-by-110 foot chamber failed during operation on Sunday, Sept. 27. One of the two leaves is resting on the bottom of the lock chamber. The other inoperable lock leaf is still affixed to the lock chamber and requires stabilization, according to Carol Labashosky, media spokeswoman for the Corps of Engineers Louisville District.
