Attention elementary school athletes: Sign up now for CCHS track and field

-A A +A

Students in kindergarten through fourth grade will now have the opportunity to participate with the Carroll County High School track and field teams. Fifth-graders are already competing with the Carroll County Middle School team.

Students will need to have a KHSAA physical on file at the high school (with head coach Joe Creager) before they can practice. Students also will need to have a permission form with parent/guardian contact information and signature before they can participate as well. Practices will be Wednesdays at Carroll County High School track from 4-5 p.m., beginning March 20.

For those who are interested in participating in the first meet on Thursday, March 21 at Henry County, forms must be turned in by Friday, March 15.

Students who have not signed up and turned in their forms by spring break (April 1) will not be able to participate this season.

On the permission form, please indicate a T-shirt size in either youth or adult size.

There is no cost for uniforms, and the athlete will be responsible for them throughout the season. At the end of the season if there is any lost or damaged items the cost of replacement will be $20.

Athletes will need a pair of lightweight running shoes (any gym shoe would be acceptable), a pair of solid black shorts (or as close to it as possible). No other equipment or supplies will be needed.

Practices will start Wednesday, March 20 from 4-5 p.m. at Carroll County High School track.  The team will practice every Wednesday at the same time (weather permitting) unless otherwise stated by the coach.

Announcements of weather-related cancellations will be made at the end of each school day.
