Bats push back Ghent paving project

A plan to rebuild Fishing Street from U.S. 42 to Davis Street was put on hold this week, as Ghent Mayor William Mumphrey turns his focus on bat removal.

Mumphrey told city commissioners during last week’s regular meeting that inspectors had determined that the former Ghent Christian Church, which now includes City Hall offices, is infested with the flying rodent-like mammals.
