Carroll County Board of Education member Jennifer Beach tendered her resignation at the board’s April 26 meeting to take a position with the school district.
“To avoid a conflict of interest I am resigning from my position on the Carroll County School Board,” Beach stated in her letter. She has served on the board for four years and served as board chairman for a year.
“I have very much enjoyed my time on the board, but I feel the impact I can make for childhood development through Kindermusik is the best way I can serve right now, “ she said in the letter dated April 17.
Beach said the Kindermusik program will begin this June.
“I want to thank you for being a good board to work with,” she said.
Board chairman Mona Kindoll praised Beach’s work on the board.
“We are going to miss you,” Kindoll said. But then added the county’s youth will benefit from her work with Head Start.
The District 3 seat serving precincts in Worthville, Sanders and Ghent stands open as of April 27.
Schools Superintendent Lisa James said the district will report her resignation to the Kentucky Department of Education. But she is not certain if they will act to fill the position since it is up for election this fall.
James said the state education department would advertise for applications of anyone interested in the position, if there is time. They would have to be interviewed by state officials who would make the selection.
James said they may not act and just wait for voters to elect a new board member in November.
