Some people go to the state fair to see animals, contests and concerts, or to eat all that fair food that’s supposed to be bad for you.

But Matthew Hill, 7, of Carrollton went to the Kentucky State Fair with one goal: To meet Jay Cardosi, WLKY-TV 32’s chief meteorologist.

The Christian Academy of Carrollton second-grader is star struck when it comes to Cardosi, and was excited about his opportunity to meet his favorite meteorologist. And meet Cardosi he did. Matthew had his picture taken with his idol – and got to do a segment of the weather on TV, said his mom, Sarah.

“He got to read the current [weather] conditions. He read it flawlessly, and anchor Rick Van Hoose even said that maybe someday we will be saying ‘What’s Matthew say’,” Sarah said, refering to the station’s commercials with the line, “What’s Jay Say?”
