About 7:30 p.m., workers removed the “road closed” sign and allowed drivers to cross for the first time since the span was moved 55 feet from the temporary to permanent piers. The crossing was only to be closed a week for the procedure but was closed six weeks after an accident with a bearing. One worker recieved minor injuries in that incident. Construction of the bridge began in 2010. Total cost is expected to be $103 million.
