Campaign message: As chairman of the House Appropriations and Revenue Committee I have produced three balanced budgets without raising taxes. I currently serve on the Public Pension Task Force and am working to bring stability to our pension system and to help reduce future cost.

Why are you the best candidate for this office? I have developed a good working relationship with elected officials and business leaders in Carroll County so that we can work together to address the needs of Carroll County.  I am fiscally conservative as I have demonstrated in my leadership position on the budget committee.  I always work to use my time and tenure in the Kentucky House to help improve the communities that we all enjoy.

If elected, what are your top priorities? My priorities will continue to bring fiscal responsibility to my position as budget chairman. We have made great progress in lowering our debt ratio and structural imbalance in our budget.  I will continue to fight to invest more state dollars into our public education system. I will continue to promote state policies that encourage job growth.  In 2009 I worked with Governor Beashear to revise our economic development packages and they have produced good results for Kentucky.
