General Butler State Resort Park celebrates the 50th anniversary of its lodge this week with a two-day kick-off event Friday and Saturday.
Butler Park is the first of six state parks whose lodges were built in 1962 and are planning 50th anniversary events.
Butler’s event, which starts at 11 a.m. Friday at the lodge, is the only one of the six at which Lt. Gov. Jerry Abramson and his wife, Madeline, will appear. They will be joined by Tourism, Arts and Heritage Secretary Marcheta Sparrow, Kentucky Parks Commissioner Elaine Walker and local officials.
