Carroll, 67 others added to state’s drought disaster list

Gov. Steve Beshear announced Monday that Carroll and 67 other counties have been classified as disaster areas by U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack in the wake of this summer’s drought.  

With this addition, 116 of Kentucky’s 120 counties have been declared primary or contiguous disaster areas due to losses caused by a drought that began April 1 and is continuing in many parts of the state. 

The only four counties not covered by a primary or contiguous disaster designation are Bell, Harlan, Leslie and Perry.
