The Carroll County Cross Country Cancer Cure Champions Invitational will be this Saturday at General Butler State Resort Park. Races will begin at 10 a.m. in the following order: Elementary girls, 10 a.m.; elementary boys, 10:30 a.m.; middle school girls, 11 a.m.; middle school boys, 11:30 a.m.; junior varsity girls, noon; junior varsity boys, 12:30 p.m.; varsity girls, 1 p.m.; and varsity boys, 1:30 p.m.
There will also be an Open 5K Race/Walk starting at 2 p.m. Anyone interested in participating can register the day of the race until 1 p.m.
A silent auction will take place at the race beginning at 9:30 a.m. and ending at 1:30 p.m. Several items have been donated from local businesses, including a golf umbrella from Kentucky Farm Bureau, a 1999 Horizon of Hope Longaberger Basket signed by a Longaberger family member from Debie Jones, Hometown Pizza gift certificates a 2010 coin set from Farmers Bank of Milton, a Carroll County embroidered polo from Fill in the Blank, an Ascot lunch bag from River Valley Financial, a duffel bag full of UK stuff donated by JCC, a Pink reusable grocery bag filled with “For the Cure” food/household items donated by the Creager family and a mini session and a 5x7 photo from Tricia McDowell Photography.
All proceeds will go to the Carroll County Relay for Life and the American Cancer Society. Invitational T-shirts are still for sale at the high school and will be available on the day of the race for $10.
