Carroll County High School girls and boys tennis teams win first-ever NCKC Tourney

The Carroll County High School tennis teams will go down in history as the first winners of their respective NCKC tournaments.


With the tournament counting as one match, the Lady Panthers extended their winning streak to 10 in a row going into the 8th Region Tournament. The girls finished the regular season 10-1 and also won the North American Stainless tournament held in Carroll County.

The Lady Panthers won the championship in a tie-breaker with Trimble County. The other teams competing in the tournament were Gallatin, Williamstown and Walton-Verona.

Carroll and Trimble were tied with nine points apiece, and Carroll won the tiebreaker 71-59.

In doubles play, Linda Cruz and Megan Harris won 6-0, 6-0 over Walton-Verona, 6-3, 6-1 over Trimble County, and 8-3 over Gallatin County. Haley Hendrick and Katie Martin won 6-0, 6-0 over Walton-Verona and 8-5 over Trimble County. The two Carroll teams played one another as well, with Cruz and Harris winning 8-4.

In singles play, Tory Bickers lost 5-7, 0-6 lost to Trimble County’s Kalee Cook. Nina Kundic won 6-0, 6-0 over Walton-Verona’s Haley Kirchner, but lost 6-2, 6-2 to Trimble County’s Kasi Fogle.
