Carroll County will host a Job Fair presented by SMX Staffing on Monday, Oct. 25, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the old courtroom on the second floor of the Carroll County Courthouse.
SMX Staffing is a staff management company with a recruiting office in Hebron, Ky., according to Carroll County Judge-Executive Harold “Shorty” Tomlinson. Tomlinson expressed concern about local unemployment during last week’s meeting of Carroll County Fiscal Court.
“What they’re looking at doing is about 3,500 jobs across the state of Kentucky,” Tomlinson said of SMX Staffing. “I told them we would like to have a job fair here where they could come to Carroll County and we’ll provide a space.”
According to a SMX flyer supplied by Tomlinson the company offers excellent pay with weekly paychecks, offers health insurance and day or night shift employment is available.
“I think the pay rates are fairly competitive,” Tomlinson said. “They’re telling me that they pay somewhere between $9.25 and $11.50 an hour. I told them that we’re about halfway positioned between Louisville and Cincinnati and that we have a number of people that would like employment if they could get it.”
Each applicant must be 18 years of age or older and possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Each must pass a seven year criminal background check and a drug screen.
Current positions available require that an employee be physically able to lift at least 30 pounds, walk up and down three flights of stairs continuously and walk between 10 and 15 miles per day in completing their job duties.
Anyone with questions about the job fair can contact Tomlinson’s office at (502) 732-7000 for more information.
