The Lady Panthers (5-14) fought hard, but came up short at home against Williamstown (3-10) Saturday, 36-30. “Our kids really, really played hard that day, but we weren’t quite as sharp as I’d have thought we’d be,” head coach Randy Mefford said. He said both teams are comparable and have had their share of struggles this season, but he was hoping they would have come out on top.

Williamstown outscored Carroll 11-4 in the second quarter, giving them the 16-11 advantage at halftime. Both teams struggled with their shooting – Carroll 22 percent, Williamstown 27 percent – and both gave the other opportunities to pull ahead by turning the ball over. The Lady Demons committed 24 turnovers compared to 20 by the Lady Panthers.

Makena Kindoll led the team in scoring with a dozen, followed by Nikki Hill, 6; Kayla Williamson, 5; Andie Hardesty, 4; and Brittany Arvin, 3.
