Carroll earns platinum STLP award

Carroll County Schools received a District Award – Platinum 2013 – at this year’s STLP State Championship, held March 28 at Rupp Arena in Lexington. The other school district receiving the award was Madison County.

Carroll County Middle School STLP received one of the Gold School awards. The school submitted a digital scrapbook that showed photo and anecdotal evidence of their STLP program, following the mission of STLP and that the school was meeting each of the program’s six goals.

Run 4 UR Life showcase project won Top 3 middle school in the state and Top 10 project in the state. The team was made up of Autumn Adams, Abigail Aulbach and Keragan Egerton.

Abby Evans, Angie Gentry, Keragan Egerton and Abigail Aulbach won first place in UK Engineering Minds On Innovation for their project on helping students in poverty in Carroll County.

Jordan Ray participated in Photo On Demand, in which students were given a topic at competition and had one hour to take a picture and turn it in to the judges.  

Abby Evans, Angie Gentry and Autumn Adams participated in Kentucky Department of Travel. Students had to present a project on their town to judges.

Cartmell Elementary students Gracie Craig and Adam Froman won first place in the Georgetown College Robot Use and Robo Challenege Xreme.

Carroll County High School seniors Pooja Patel and Andrea Williams participated in the STLP engineering program.
