Carroll County High School hosted a North Central Kentucky Conference cross country meet on Sept. 14 at General Butler State Resort Park.

Walton-Verona took home the top honors in both boys’ and girls’ varsity competition. Trimble County was victorious in boys’ and girls’ junior varsity competitions.

Carroll’s Panthers did not have enough runners to post team scores in both varsity and junior varsity competitions. Other schools competing were Eminence, Gallatin County, Henry County, Owen County and Williamstown.

While short on numbers, Carroll’s varsity runners placed well in the individual competition. In the girls’ varsity 5K run, freshman Kelsey Ogden placed 10th with a time of 26:27.3, and Brittany Arvin was close behind in 13th place with a time of 27:19.6. Ethan Stewart was Carroll’s only entrant in the boys’ varsity 5K finishing 18th overall with a time of 22:56.5.

In the boys’ junior varsity run Trystan Amick was Carroll’s top runner finishing eighth with a time of 15:30.9. The JV boys ran a 3200 meter course.

According to Coach Joe Creager, all participants in the girls’ JV competition “ran the wrong way on the course which shortened their race from 3200 meters to somewhere between 2400 and 3000 meters.”

Eighth grader Kirsten Arvin finished a strong sixth with a time of 13:30.5 to lead Carroll’s runners in the girls’ JV competition.

The Panthers returned to action last night in a NCKC Meet at Owen County.

“I look to have every member back in shape and running the tough course at Owen,” Creager said in an email.
