A Carroll County man was arrested Saturday, Aug. 9, and charged with robbery after an incident at a New Castle Bank.
Corey Dallas Washburn, 21, of Carrollton was standing behind another customer inside the United Citizens Bank while a transaction involving a large amount of cash took place at the counter, according to Kentucky State Police. Washburn allegedly reached over the customer’s shoulder and grabbed the cash and attempted to flee. The bank customer grabbed Washburn, pushed him against a wall, and held him there until state police units arrived on scene, according to the release.
Washburn was charged with first-degree robbery and lodged at the Shelby County Detention Center.
Detective Steve Goodale is leading the ongoing investigation. Henry County Sheriff’s Office assisted state police at the scene.
