Carroll County High School’s cross country teams competed on a “very grueling course” at Owen County High School on Tuesday, Sept. 22, according to Coach Joe Creager. “The hilly course caused some slower times for the runners, but overall the kids ran a very competitive race.”

In the boys’ run, Ben Tingle was the top individual for Carroll County, taking sixth place with a time of 21:10. Micah Jones finished 13th and Jacob Griffin finished 15th while middle school runners Michael Hedges and Avery Franklin finished in 21st and 22nd place. Newcomer Adam Hickey raced for the first time this season for the Panthers.

Carroll’s girls finished second behind Walton Verona. The girls were paced by seventh grader Kristen Arvin, who finished 12th, followed by Nikki Hill who finished 13th. Teammates Sydney Brewer (18th) and Mikaila Woods (19th) also made the top 20. Kim Ketterer also completed the course for the girls’ team.

Carroll’s girls finished sixth in the Madison Courier Invitational, held Saturday at the L.S. Ayres Athletic Complex on the Hanover College campus. Brittany Arvin finished 19th with a time of 24:33. Nikki Hill  finished 37th, Kim Ketterer finished 42nd and Andie Hardesty was 47th.

The Panthers were unable to field a complete team in the boys’ competition. Individually, Micah Jones finished 25th with a time of 20:11 and Erick Lewis was 40th with a time of 22:14.
