The Carroll County girls’ and boys’ tennis teams won the North American Stainless tennis tournament held in Carroll County. There were six girls’ teams and three boys’ teams that competed.
In the girls’ tournament, Carroll defeated Gallatin in the first round, 5-0. In the second round, Carroll played Frankfort in the championship. No. 3 singles Lyndie Burns won 6-4, 6-4, while both doubles teams also won to give Carroll a 3-2 victory. No. 1 doubles Katie Martin and Haley Hendrick won 6-2, 6-3 while No. 2 doubles Linda Cruz and Megan Harris won 6-3, 6-4.
With this victory, the girls are 9-1, winning nine straight matches.
In the first match for the boys, Trimble dominated Gallatin 4-1. Carroll moved on to the final because Walton-Verona forfeited.
Carroll defeated Trimble 3-2 in a very competitive match. In No. two singles, Josh McCarty defeated Nick Kleinhenz after the two were tied going into the third set. Trimble also had to forfeit the No. three singles match against Carroll’s Zeke Kates.
With a 2-2 tie, No. 2 doubles team Gabe Kates and Joe Gemmer defeated Trimble’s pair to win the trophy for the Panthers.
