CCHS prepares for new school year with freshman orientation

Carroll County High School will host freshman orientation on Friday, Aug. 3, for students and parents to help prepare them for the opening day of school on Wednesday, Aug. 8. 

This is the ninth year that Carroll County High School will be offering the “Panther Kick-Off” Orientation as a freshman transition experience. With the support of administration they are offering this opportunity for all incoming freshmen to be held Friday, Aug. 3 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at Carroll County High School. 

Panther Kick-Off  2012 is a one-day orientation event for incoming ninth graders that is led by a staff of Panther Kick-Off mentors (P-KOM’s) and administrators.  Freshman will receive their schedules, meet their student mentors, teachers, and will have a fun filled day.  The cost of the orientation will be $15 per student for which students will receive a t-shirt, spirit items, lunch, prizes, snacks and an outstanding program.

Students can register by returning their forms, which were mailed last week, to CCHS or at 8:30 a.m. on Aug. 3 in the front lobby.

Parent-to-Parent

Parents of incoming freshman are invited to a “Parent-To-Parent” session on Friday, Aug. 3 from 2:15-3 p.m. in the CCHS Cafeteria. The agenda for these sessions is:

• What your child will be accomplishing during Panther Kickoff

• A typical day at CCHS

• How to prepare your child for the first day of school

• The hows and whys of the Attendance Office

• How to access your child’s progress on line

• Homework, communication and safety

• A student supply list of items needed for the first day

• CCHS lingo/ parent tips/ questions

• Questions answered about the new programs available at CCHS

On the day of the Kick-Off there will be tables set up so that they can:

• Purchase season or all sport tickets for parent and/or child (Student All-sport $30, Adult - $40 and Family - $100, payable to CCHS)

• Purchase a yearbook at the lowest price of the year for $45 payable to CCHS

• Complete free/reduced lunch assistance applications

Class schedules

Student’s daily class schedules will be available starting Tuesday, July 31 for students in grades 10-12 in the office at Carroll County High School office. Students will also be able to view their schedules on line  using their Infinite Campus identification number and password through the Carroll County High School’s website www.carroll.kyschools.us.

If a schedule change is necessary, it needs to be completed prior to Aug. 8. Once school begins, schedule changes will only be permitted for extreme cases, and only allowed for the first five school days. New student registration

Students new to the school district are encouraged to register for classes during the summer by bringing your transcripts, grades, birth certificate, immunization forms and proof of residency to the CCHS Main Office. Students can register Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Carroll County High School or by calling Sheree Richter, guidance counselor, at 732-7075, ext. 6307 or emailing sheree.richter@carroll.kyschools.us.

All season sports passes

Carroll County High School will be selling “All Season Sport Passes” beginning July 18th through August 31st.  A sports pass will entitle the bearer to free admission to all regular home athletic events during the regular season.  Season pass prices are $30 for students, $40 for adults and $100 for a family pass.

Passes will be on sale in the office of Carroll County High School starting July 18 through Aug. 31 from 8:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Anyone interested may also call Anne Hill or Sheree Richter at Carroll County High School.
