CCHS track and field honors seniors at home meet

The Carroll County High School track and field team hosted its only home meet of the season Friday. The team honored its three seniors: thrower Raenah Hawkins, jumper/sprinter Kristofer Curnutte and thrower/sprinter Brandon Franklin.


“It was nice to honor those seniors for their commitment to the team,” head coach Joe Creager said in an email. “I would like to thank Mr. Tom Stephens, Mrs. Mandy Wilson and Mrs. Lynn Eaglin and all of the students who came out to help make the meet a success.”

The Panthers hosted Henry County, Owen County and Bellevue in the fifth annual Carroll County Invite.

Junior Ashley Srouder broke her own school record in the shot put with a throw of 28 feet 8.5 inches, placing first. She also finished in fourth-place in discus with a distance of 62 feet 2 inches.

Junior Cody Osborne won first place for the boys team in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 47 seconds. He also finished in second place in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 19 seconds and eighth in the long jump.

Henry County won the team championship for both the boys and girls teams. Carroll County placed fourth in each.

Girls results

Sierra Martinez placed second in the 800-meter run.

Kayla Anderson placed fourth in the shot put.

Stevie Ogburn placed fifth in the triple jump and sixth in the 100-meter dash.

Maricella Martinez placed sixth in shot put and eighth in discus.

Jessie Smith placed seventh in the 100-meter dash,

Jayden Bailey placed eighth in the 100-meter dash.


Boys results

Brandon Franklin placed third in the shot put.

Taylor Byrd placed third in the 400-meter run and fourth in the long jump.

Brad Osborne placed third in the 100-meter dash.

Michael Burns placed fourth in the 400-meter run and ninth in the long jump.

Malachi Corbin placed fourth in shot put and fifth in discus.

Lucas Gibbs placed fifth in the 100-meter dash.

Michael Hall placed seventh in the 800-meter run.

Joe Parker placed seventh in the 100-meter dash, seventh in the triple jump and 15th in the long jump.

The 4x100-meter relay team of Brandon Franklin, Cody Osborne, Brad Osborne and Michael Hall finished in fourth place.
