CCHS track teams compete in Mason County indoor meet

The Carroll County High School boys’ and girls’ track teams traveled to Maysville, Ky., Saturday to run in the Mason County Indoor Meet at Mason County High School. The event was a warmup to next week’s 50th annual Mason-Dixon Games which will be held in Broadbent Arena in Louisville, according to CCHS Track and Field Head Coach Joe Creager.

“There were over 40 teams and nearly 600 athletes that competed on Saturday,” Creager said. “We had some strong finishes by Nora Fremin, Chris Satterly, and the guys’ 4x400 meter relay team.” 

Individual achievements for Carroll County included Nora Fremin, fourth in the girls’ 55 meter dash. In the boys’ event, D’Anthony Collins placed 19th, Andy Sisenstein 21st and Brandon McAllister, 42nd.

Kirsten Arvin placed 52nd in the girls’ 400 meter dash. Jacob Griffin finished 35th in the boys’ 400 meter dash.

Micah Jones finished 11th in the 1600 meter run.

Nora Fremin placed sixth and Reila Winburn 10th in the firls’ 55 meter hurdles. Chris Satterly placed 10th in the boys’ event.

Carroll County placed ninth overall in the 4X800 meter relay. Carroll’s runners finished sixth in the 4x400 meter relay. Their time of 4:06.90 was almost three seconds faster than last year’s best mark, according to Creager.

Satterly finished second in the long jump and third in the high jump. Collins finished 11th in the long jump.

Nora Fremin finished eighth in the girls’ long jump and 10th in the triple jump.

In the girls’ shot put, Raenah Hawkins placed 25, Kaydee McCollum placed 27th.

In boys’ shot put, Richard Little placed 13th, Jerad Eskew 15th, Eli Unker 16th, Rowdy Yates 19th and Kenneth Crawford 24th.
