The 8th grade Panthers led 15-8 after the first quarter and clung to a 21-20 lead going into halftime. Unfortunately, the Rebels turned on the offense in the second half, winning 59-39.
Owen County’s leading scorer was 7th grader Carson Williams, who scored 35 points in the contest.
Carroll County’s Caleb McCarty, right, led his team with 20 points.
Other scorers for the Panthers were Derrick Wright, 8; Logan Hembree, 5; Austin Dunn, 4; and Avery Franklin, 2.
The 7th grade Panthers got off to a slow start, falling behind 20-6 in the first quarter to the visiting Rebels of Owen County. They were down 28-12 at halftime. The Panthers increased their scoring output in the second half, but it was not enough to defeat the Rebels. The home team lost by a final score of 50-28.
