A new administrator has been hired at Signature Health Care Center in Bedford.

Fran Stahl, originally of Maysville, Ky., started his job Monday, just in time for the facility’s celebration of National Nursing Home Week.

Stahl is a Bellarmine University graduate and had been administrator of Signature’s health care facility in Bracken County for two years.

“I’m hoping to be here and take care of our residents, and be an asset to the community,” he said.

At 10 a.m., Judge-Executive Randy Stevens read and signed a proclamation recognizing May 10-16 as Nursing Home Week in Trimble County.

To celebrate, the facility is hosting several events during the week, including an old-fashioned

ice cream social Monday afternoon and a beans and cornbread social Tuesday, said assistant quality of life director Cindy Alexander.

Today, the center’s Relay for Life team, “Kicking Cancer in the Bass,” is holding a bake sale starting at 9 a.m. At 2 p.m., residents will play Super Bingo for $25 in prize money.

On Thursday, the center plans a sock hop with Clinton Spaulding; participants are invited to wear their saddle Oxfords and poodle skirts to the costume contest.

On Friday will be a staff cook out and yard games for staff and residents.
