Charles William Buchanan Sr., 75, Madison, Ind., died Friday, Oct. 3, 2008 at his residence.

Born Oct. 27, 1932 in Switzerland County, Ind., he was the son of John and Nora Buchanan.

He was a construction carpenter. He was a member of the Carpenters’ Union, American Legion Post #9 and the Milton United Methodist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include six sons, Terry Morgan and Bill Buchanan, both of Milton, Dan Morgan, Owensboro, Rick Morgan and Bob Buchanan, both of Madison, Ind. Gary Buchanan, Bedford; two brothers, William Buchanan, Madison, Ind., and John Buchanan, Columbus, Ind.; three sisters, Gladys Evans, Vincennes, Ind., Mary Pender and Elizabeth Young, both of Madison, Ind.; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

His wife Nina, in 1998, and one brother, Junior Buchanan, preceded him in death.

A private funeral and burial for immediate family only will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may go to the Charles Buchanan Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.
