The city of Carrollton will increase the amount of money it spends on fireworks this year from $12,500 last year to $15,500. The second annual Fourth of July celebration will be held July 4 at Point Park.
The 2013 Fourth of July budget is $23,200; last year’s was $23,094.
Mayor Gene McMurry said he has put $25,000 in next fiscal year’s budget for the event. However, 50 percent of the bill needs to be paid by April 15. As a result, this year’s fiscal court budget will need to be amended.
