On Dec. 4, the Carrollton Woman’s Club met at Pat’s Place on Seminary Street for a Christmas Program.
Nine members and two guests were present. Carolyn Stout and Dorothy Buckner were hostesses and had decorated and planned the program.
Nancy Jo Grobmyer introduced guests Janice Chilton and Sister Paula Gohs.
Sister Paula presented a program outlining the purpose of Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Carroll County. She told about the program needing adults to mentor youth and to volunteer to be an influence on a child’s life. She explained that the Rev. Dr. Chris White began the program here in Carrollton several years ago. She said that volunteers are screened and then matched with their little brother or little sister by a committee. The Big Brother/Big Sister then meets with their “Little” on school grounds.
Following the program, Karen Claiborne told members that the Kentucky Federation of Woman’s Clubs’ home had been sold. A new home for the club memorabilia and furnishings will be in Frankfort.
Door prizes for this month’s meeting were given, and it was announced that the January and February meetings for 2013 were canceled. The next meeting will be in March 2013, with Judy Keith as hostess.
Members collected mittens for the schools to distribute. After a reading of the Club Collect, the meeting was adjorned.
