I’ve been coaching three softball teams since mid-March and would like to take this opportunity to thank the many people who helped me make it through the summer months of practice, games and travel.
The first team, the Black Sox, was a Parks and Recreation instructional league team. I’d like to thank the Parks and Recreation department, the players, the umpires, the parents, our sponsor, North America Stainless, my assistant coaches, DeWayne Egerton and Tara McArter and my scorekeeper, Christina McArter. The team was league champs and tournament runner-ups and posted an overall record of seven wins and three losses.
The next team I coached was the U-10 Lady Panther All-Star team, which competed in the North Central Kentucky (NCKY) League. Once again, I’d like to thank the Parks and Recreation department, the players, the umpires, the parents, our sponsors, Carrollton Federal Bank and the Family Worship Center, my assistant coaches, Robin McCabe and Pat Morris and my scorekeepers, Nikki Jamerson, Michelle Hawkins and Darrell Hayden. The team posted a season record of eight wins and six losses and a tie and was runner-ups in the NCKY League tourney.
The third team I coached was the U-12 Lady Panthers which also competed in the NCKY League. Again, I’d like to thank the Parks and Recreation department, the players, the umpires, the league directors, the parents, our sponsors, States, Inc., Earl Floyd Ford, Craig’s, Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home, Rite-Aid, the American Legion-Post No. 41, Super 8 Motel, Burgin’s, McNeal’s, United Auto Workers (UAW) Local 1813 and the Carroll County Pool, my assistant coach Jimmy McEndre and my scorekeepers Jessica Harp and Darrell Hayden. The team posted a season record of 12 wins and seven losses and was also runner-ups in the NCKY League tournament.
As I reflect back on the summer months I consider myself truly blessed to have had 50 young ladies call me coach and am now setting my sights toward next season.
