Social Security ends visits to Carroll County

The Social Security Administration will no longer visit the Carroll County Circuit Court office on the second Tuesday of each month.

Local residents needing assistance may visit the SSA office at 140 Flynn Ave., Frankfort, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday, and 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.

Officials there can help with applications for retirement, disability or Medicare, give estimates for benefits, issue replacement Medicare cards and provide applications for extra assistance with prescription drug costs. For those who already receive beneifts, the office can initiate or change direct deposit accounts, change addresses or supply a “proof of income” letter.

Northern Kentucky job fair set for May 25

Job seekers will have an opportunity to meet nearly 70 employers at the fifth annual Northern Kentucky “Hire Vets First” Job Fair.

The free event is 1-4 p.m. Wednesday, May 25, at the Drawbridge Inn and Convention Center, 2477 Royal Drive, Fort Mitchell, and is sponsored by the Northern Kentucky Tri-County Economic Development Corporation and One Stop Northern Kentucky.

At 11 a.m., the Northern Kentucky One Stop Veterans’ Section and the Kentucky Office of Vocational Rehabilitation will host a seminar for employers to explain the new one-stop job matching system, discuss tax incentives and provide interviewing tips for people, particularly veterans,  with disabilities.

This class is certified by the Human Resource Certification Institute and is co-sponsored by the Northern Kentucky Society for Human Resources Management.
