On Nov. 2 at 7 p.m. the Carrollton Woman’s Club had its monthly meeting at the home of Mary Broberg.
Following a pledge to the flag, Dorothy Buckner read Psalm 100 for the Spiritual Value.
The Education Committee, Carolyn Stout and Nancy Ellis had arranged the program. Nancy Ellis introduced Grace Angotti, family and consumer science Agent at the Carroll County Extension office. She is employed by the University of Kentucky. She receives materials that provide research-based programs. Angotti does a wide variety of nutrition programs such as Weight, the Reality Series, nutrition programs for school children in the after-school program.
She also teaches mothers nutrition for the early head start program, teaches in the schools project LEAP teaching students the importance of fruits and vegetables and exercise. She works with children doing 4-H sewing, as there is no 4-H agent now. She writes a column weekly for The News-Democrat and writes a monthly newsletter to homemaker and mailbox members.
She gave the club members samples of her recent programs, including preventing falls and slips, pre-biotic and pro-biotic, Alzheimer’s disease, etc. Angotti is also advisor to homemaker clubs in Carroll County. She provided free samples of yogurt to the members.
At the conclusion of her program, members were served dessert by Mary Broberg and enjoyed a social time.
A business meeting followed with the reading of the October minutes by Nancy Ellis and a treasurer’s report by Judy Keith.
Vice-president Deborah Garrett presided at the business meeting, and members discussed an idea for fund-raising for the club scholarship.
Following a reading of the club collect, the meeting was adjourned.
