County should have been at state fair

-A A +A

Editor:

On a recent trip to the Kentucky State Fair, I was very disappointed to find out that the county I have lived in for 30-plus years wasn’t represented in the Pride of the Counties.

Carroll County is supposed to be a growing community with a brand new RV Park. We also have a lot going for our county, such as festivals, local businesses, industry and a state park that should have been showcased.

I just feel, living less than an hour away from the home of the Kentucky State Fair, that Carroll County missed a great opportunity to promote the county and the pride we should have for ourselves.

I, myself, would have volunteered my time to represent my county at the fair as I am sure others would have, given the opportunity to do so.

After all, how can someone “realize the true beauty of the rural countryside until their visit” if we don’t take the opportunity to let them know where we are and what we are about?
