Couple wins lots at Happy Hollow Resort

Judy and Phillip Brock bought five raffle tickets several months ago, hoping to become the new owners of four lots being raffled at Happy Hollow Resort in Worthville, Ky.

On Sunday, their wish came true, as Judy’s name was drawn by Carroll County Judge-Executive Harold “Shorty” Tomlinson and Magistrate Dean Miller.

The Brocks, who live on East Prong Locust in Milton, aready own four lots across the street from the ones they won at the resort.

“We haven’t decided what we are going to do with the lots, because we are still stunned and very appreciative,” she said. “It’s kind of weird being right across the street from where we already own.”

Just two months ago, they traded their old camper in for a brand new, roomier model.

“I have eight brothers and sisters, so there’s room for everyone,” Judy Brock said.

Mitchell Dunaway, a member of the Happy Hollow board of directors, said the lots were raffled off to raise funds to help the member-owned park maintain its roads.

“We get no outside help; we are self-sustaining,” Dunaway said.

The lots are adjoining and have access to water, electric and sewer lines. Owners can put a camper on one lot, but two lots are required for placing a mobile home in the resort.

The drawing was held during a potluck dinner Sunday. The Brocks were not present when their winning ticket was pulled from the hopper by Tomlinson.

Dunaway said Happy Hollow, which is on the banks of the Kentucky River south of Carrollton on State Hwy. 227, has 187 members and 90 permanent residents.
