Cultural experience

Vanessa Birchfield, accompanied by Richie Chubb, left, and Chris Thorton, was the featured singer Friday night at the Carroll County Public Library. This event was combined with the Hispanic Arts and Crafts exhibit reception. Examples of Mexican art are on display behind Birchfield.

Several items from Mexico are available for purchase in a silent bid auction through the month of November.

Native Hispanic foods were donated by local restaurants for the event. Dulce de Leche made the Peruvian pastries while Mexico Lindo donated the Mexican sweet bread, pictured. Tamales were donated by La Rosita.

A Guatemalan exhibit is on display in the glass case in the middle of the library next to the computers.
