The Trimble Banner Tax bills that are not paid on time can be sold to third parties who pay the back taxes owed, then go to work collecting that payment – plus interest – from the delinquent taxpayer, according to Trimble County Clerk Jerry Powell.
A taxpayer whose deliqent tax bill is $600 could triple to $1,800, with interest and fees that can legally be tacked onto the tax bill by the third-party buyers.
