CRESTWOOD, Ky. – Dorothy Cundiff, 96, of Crestwood, formerly of Carroll County, died Thursday, Sept. 11, 2008, at Friendship Manor Nursing Home.
Funeral services were Monday, Sept. 15, at Stoess Funeral Home, Crestwood. Burial was in Floydsburg Cemetery.
Mrs. Cundiff was born on Sept. 28, 1911, to the late Alva and Edith Bishop Dawkins of Worthville, Ky.
She was a member of Crestwood Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for 49 years. She also volunteered at Baptist Hospital East for 30 years. She taught kindergarten, first for the Pewee Valley Women’s Club, then in her home, before public kindergarten was available in Kentucky.
She was an avid bridge player.
Survivors include two daughters, Bonnie (Jerry) Olson and Sherril (Robert) Bennett; a son, W.E. “Eddie” Cundiff; and four grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Cundiff fund for Underprivileged Children, in care of the Oldham County Board of Education.
