Two receive degrees in May from EKU

Two local students were among the 1,707 graduates Eastern Kentucky University recognized at the conclusion of the spring 2014 semester.

Graduates were honored at commencement ceremonies May 10.

Local EKU graduates include the following:

Ethan Thomas Manley, Carrollton, who received a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice.

Eric Lee Muncie, Milton, specialist masters degree in school psychology.

EKU announces spring 2014 President’s List

Three local students were among 1,177 students who earned President’s List honors for the spring 2014 semester at Eastern Kentucky University.

Local students honored include:

Lauren Holloway, Carrollton, a sophomore seeking an elementary education teaching major.

Ethan Manley, Carrollton, a senior seeking a criminal justice major.

Sandi Magby, Milton, a senior seeking a paralegal science major

The President’s List was established by the university to recognize outstanding academic achievement. It is bestowed upon full-time undergraduate students who attain a perfect 4.0 grade point average for a semester.

“We are always pleased to recognize all our outstanding students,” EKU President Michael Benson said, “especially those who excel in the classroom to the point of perfection.”

EKU announces spring 2014 Dean’s List

Eastern Kentucky University recognized 10 students from the local area as part of 2,880 who earned Dean’s List honors for the spring 2014 semester:

Michael Andrew Gonterman, Carrollton, junior accounting major

Alyssa Mae Herndon, Carrollton, sophomore pre-art/design studio major

Lauren Nicole Holloway, Carrollton, sophomore elementary education teaching major

Ethan Thomas Manley, Carrollton, senior criminal justice major

Justin Ray Shelton, Worthville, sophomore physical education major

Justin Byrd Asher, Campbellsburg, junior globalization and inter affairs major

Andrew P Heilman, Campbellsburg, sophomore elementary education teaching major

Jacob Allen Blair, Bedford, senior journalism major

Jennifer Nicole Brown, Milton, junior correctional and juvenile justic studies major

Sandi D Magby, Milton, senior paralegal science major

To achieve Dean’s List honors at Eastern, students attempting 14 or more credit hours must earn a 3.5 grade point average out of a possible 4.0. Students attempting 13 credit hours must earn a 3.65 GPA, and students attempting 12 credit hours must earn a 3.75 GPA.

“We are always pleased to recognize outstanding academic achievement at Eastern Kentucky University,” EKU President Michael Benson said.
