Family fun in spring
Springtime is a wonderful time of the year. Children love to go outside and enjoy the sunshine and warmer weather.
Spring is also a great time for you to go outside, as well. If you have children, be a role model and go outside and get involved in activities with them.
When your children see you being active, they are more likely to be active themselves.
If you don’t have children, go outside and get involved in some type of activity for your own better health. Enjoy the season.
Here are a few ways to be active outdoors:
• Play tag. This is a great game for everyone. Tag encourages everyone to move. Take turns being “it.” For even more laughter play “Freeze Tag.”
• Plant a garden. Plant a garden with your husband, wife and/or children. How great to enjoy fresh, homegrown fruits and vegetables from the garden.
• Use sidewalk chalk. Not only is sidewalk chalk good for drawing on driveways and sidewalks, but great for helping the family get moving.
Use the chalk to create a Hop Scotch course, foursquare or other games.
• Go on a scavenger hunt. During the spring, look for flowers and plants.. Go on a scavenger hunt and see what kinds of plants and flowers you can find in the woods, fields or at our state park. Pick some if you are allowed; list some to research more about when you get home.
Enjoy the nicer weather, together, as a family – get outside and get active.
