Fall festival event for Relay a success

On behalf of the Carroll County Relay For Life Committee (and especially for the many people and families that are battling cancer) I would like to thank everyone who made the “Fall Fun Festival” at the Armory on Oct. 31 a huge success.  All of the volunteers worked really hard before, during and after the event ... creating a fun, family friendly evening for the entire community.

We have a few special groups to thank for making sure the event was a success.  During a tough year, a group of local industries stepped up with donations to make sure that most of our expenses were covered (allowing us to focus on having fun and raising money for the American Cancer Society), including Airgas, Dow Corning, Kentucky Utilities, North American Stainless and Ohio Valley Asphalt.  Other businesses helped in other ways through donation of services or big discounts, including the National Guard Armory, JTM Foods, Presto Foods, Gordon Food Service, Kroger, Hometown Pizza, Fun Zone Inflatables, Bottom Line Marketing and The News-Democrat. Always saving the best for last, our energetic volunteers, including the Carroll County Relay For Life Committee, the Carroll County FBLA and National Honor Society, were tireless and wonderful throughout the planning and execution of the event.

Carroll County is a special place, full of special people. We had a fun time, and the kids had a fun time at the Armory Oct. 31.  In the end, we raised almost $5,000 after expenses for the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life, or more simply stated, for the people and families that are “Fighting Back” against cancer.

Thank you to the entire community for making this happen.
