Despite a very difficult day on Saturday, the Carroll County Panthers track team managed to qualify four individuals for the KHSAA Class A State Track Meet. The meet will be held Thursday, May 17, at University of Louisville.

The following student-athletes qualified for state: senior Dylan Jack, high jump; senior Andie Hardesty, high jump; senior Devin Gray, 1600-meter run; and sophomore Tre Burgin, pole vault.

The Panthers just missed out on having the girls 4x400-meter relay team qualify with an at-large bid, finishing just three spots out of the top 24 in the state.

Gray earned his at-large bid in the 1,600-meter run by setting a new personal best of 4:48 (besting his old time by 4 seconds). But he was disqualified for an infraction at the start of the 800-meter run, despite finishing in second place with a time that would have ranked him in the top 10 in the state.
