On Saturday, Sept. 12, the Carrollton Police Department-in conjunction with the Carroll County Regional Detention Center-held our fourth annual Shop-With-A-Cop Trail Ride. It proved to be a very successful venture for our yearly Shop-With-A-Cop event. We had a total of 76 riders and $1,412. was raised to help fund this program.

We are now in our ninth year of Shop-With-A-Cop and have helped almost 600 children and spent more than $100,000 to provide Christmas to children in our county who otherwise might not receive anything during the holiday season.

It is only through the continuing support and participation of businesses and individuals in our community that our program has been so successful. And for our Trail Ride, their support was obvious.

We wish to thank all the riders who participated, and to the following businesses who donated prizes that were auctioned that evening: McNeals’ Hardware, Glauber’s Sporting Goods, VF Outlet, Craig’s-Do-It Center, T. Leap Carpentry, Quality Homes of Madison, and Auto Collision Specialist. We also wish to thank Rolling Creek Farm and Charlie Maiden for hosting the event, the different property owners who allowed the riders to cross through their property, and to Mike Humphrey and CCRDC for their help in preparing the food and setting up and cleaning up the area. Also a special thanks goes to Jason Kidwell for donating the Poker Run Prize money back to Shop-With-A-Cop.

Without this event and other fundraising events we hold throughout the year, our Department’s program would not be as beneficial to the children involved in our shopping experience. Thanks to all who were involved.
