Ghent City Commission has decided that after more than seven years of consideration, it will end its efforts to restore the Ghent Christian Church.
The city will now have to repay the $40,201.08 already spent and walk away from the project, based on the action taken at its regular meeting Tuesday, April 14.
The money will be repaid in installments, but according to city clerk Bulinda Willis. This is about half of the city’s annual revenue that for the 2007-08 budget year.
