Ghent lawsuit could go to mediation in September

A proposed settlement to the lawsuit filed in November in Carroll County Circuit Court by Ghent residents Gary and Cheryl Nohner against the city of Ghent and several city officials has been declined.

In addition to the city of Ghent, the suit names as defendants  the Ghent Board of Zoning Adjustment; Mayor William Mumphrey; and Planning and Zoning Commissioners David Hendren, Karen Browning and Caroline Reisner. Mumphrey, Hendren, Browning and Reisner are named as defendants in both their official capacities with the city and as individuals.
