Ghent Subway robbed at gunpoint

Detectives from Kentucky State Police Post 5 are investigating an armed robbery that happened Dec. 17 at the Subway in Ghent, Ky. Carroll County dispatchers received the call and advised KSP Post 5 of the robbery just after 8 p.m.

There was only one person, a store employee, in the Subway at the time of the robbery, accord to a KSP news release. The employee advised police that two white males came into the store. 

One of the perpetrators allegedly pointed a black handgun at the employee and demanded money. The worker gave the man the money and both perpetrators fled the store, according to the release.

It is unknown if they got into a vehicle and drove away from the scene. 

The Subway employee described the perpetrator that pointed the gun as a white male who appeared to be in his early 20s, between 5 feet, 9 inches and 6 feet, according to police. He was wearing a dark, hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans at the time of the robbery. 

The other perpetrator was a white male wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, black jacket and black jeans. The second man appeared to be about the same age and of the same stature as the first.      

Detective Kurt Buhts is leading the ongoing investigation. He was assisted by the Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office.
