Senior Lady Panther Quincy Hogan advances to the Class A State Tournament as an individual non-team qualifier after shooting an 87 in the 8th Region Class A golf tournament Tuesday, Aug. 23 at Fairway Golf Course.
Carroll County shot a 406 as a team, good enough for second place behind Owen County, which will advance as a team to state. The other non-winning team qualifier was Walton-Verona’s Adrianne Mason, who shot a 79.
Trimble County finished in third place, followed by Walton-Verona. Gallatin County and Williamstown did not have team scores.
Ashli Childs shot the second-lowest score for the Lady Panthers with a 105, followed by Hannah McMahan and Taylor Hayden, both shooting a 107. Elisha Rabago rounded out the team score with a 122.
Panthers fall to Owen
The boys’ golf team lost 179-169 to Owen County Monday. Jacob Meadows and Nick Abbott led the team with 38s, while John Michael Adams closely followed with a 40. Thomas Hill shot a 63 and Nick Aulbach shot a 64 to round out the team score.
“I was very pleased with my top three today,” head coach Warren McEuen said. “We have made some real progress so far, and I expect it to continue. I can’t say enough about seniors Meadows and Williams, as well as junior Abbott. We (will) keep building for the NCKC and the region.”
