Gossip is ‘nonsense’ from ‘busybodies’ who are idle

 God reprimands people who gossip, as the Bible says in I Timothy 5:13: “Besides, they get into the habit of being idle and going about from house to house. And not only do they become idlers, but also busybodies who talk nonsense, saying things they ought not to.”

People are eager to talk. They talk first and think later when things have already been said and they have already created a big problem and discouragement to the affected people. The tongue, although being a small part of the body, always gets us in trouble because we love to talk. Sometimes we talk just for the sake of it without being completely sure of the facts.

Talking about others is something that should not happen because nobody would like others to talk about their family or personal problems, or if somebody is a drug addict, adulterer, fornicator or has some type of incurable disease.

Many people don’t care about their neighbors and knowing someone is talking about you behind your back is very discouraging because what we are really looking for are words of support and to be surrounded by friends to be with you through the hard times. We don’t want gossip where the truth is exaggerated and is said with malicious intentions. “Look, look… and he says he loves God…” or any other derogatory, offensive or evil remark.

Let’s not forget that nobody is perfect, we can all fail, but let’s learn to be merciful just like God is with each one of us.

God knows us and he knows we are easily dominated by our tongue and instead of inspiring people to talk good, encouraging, cheerful things amongst ourselves, we do what’s easier and we let ourselves be influenced by others to gossip and speak ill of the rest.

Instead of people that only feed their ego, vanity and their own desires, we ought to look for ones that are positive and are fearful of God. Because of the way we use our tongue against others, someday it will be used against us and we won’t like it — adding parts that aren’t true. The Bible preaches us to run away from not telling the truth, as it says in John 8:44 “You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.”

El chisme

Dios reprende a la gente chismosa, como dice 1 Timoteo 5:13: “Y también aprenden a ser ociosas, andando de casa en casa; y no solamente ociosas, sino también chismosas y entremetidas, hablando lo que no debieran.”

Las personas son muy ligeras al hablar, primero hablan y luego piensan, cuando las cosas lo han dicho, ya han creado un gran problema y desanimo en las personas afectadas. La lengua a pesar de ser un miembro tan pequeño, siempre nos mete en grandes problemas, porque a las personas les encanta siempre hablar, pero a veces se habla por hablar, sin estar seguro de las cosas.

El hablar acerca de otras personas no se debe dar, porque a nadie le gustaría que hablen de sus problemas familiares, o personales, aunque uno sea drogadicto, adultero, fornicario, que tengas una enfermedad incurable (El Sida o cualquier otra enfermedad). Pero a mucha gente no le interesa el prójimo, el sentir que hablan de ti, es algo muy desalentador, porque lo que quiere la persona afectada, son palabras de animo, que los amigos vengan y lloren contigo en tu desgracia, no quiere chismes, donde se distorsiona la verdad y se dicen cosas con malas intenciones “Fíjate….fíjate y así dice que ama a Dios…” o cualquier otra frase despectiva, burlona, ofensiva, maliciosa. No nos olvidemos que nadie es perfecto, todos podemos fallar, pero aprendamos a ser misericordiosos, así como lo es Dios con nosotros.

Dios que nos conoce, el sabe que somos muy ligeros al dejarnos dominar por la lengua y en vez de animar a las personas a hablar cosas que edifican, animan, alientan, nos vamos por lo mas fácil, dejándonos llevar por las demás gentes chismosas, que se alegran hablando mal de otros. Apártate de esas gentes que solo alimentan su ego, su vanidad, su deseos carnales, mejor busquemos gentes que son muy positivas, gentes que de alguna manera tienen temor de Dios. Porque de la manera como usamos nuestra lengua, un día se dará vuelta el pastel y no nos gustará que hablen de nosotros, inventando cosas, añadiendo mentiras, sin saber exactamente la verdad. La Biblia nos exhorta a huir de la mentira, como dice Dios en San Juan 8:44 “Vosotros sois de vuestro padre el diablo, y los deseos de vuestro padre queréis hacer. El ha sido homicida desde el principio, y no ha permanecido en la verdad, porque no hay verdad en El. Cuando habla mentira, de suyo habla; porque es mentiroso, y padre de mentira”.
