WARSAW, Ky. – Helen Gullion Maxwell, 85, of Warsaw died Thursday, Aug. 7, 2008 at the Gallatin Health Care Center, Warsaw.
Funeral services were Monday, August 11, at 2:00 p.m. at Ten Mile Baptist Church, with the Rev. Wayne Gullion officiating and Bro. Edwin Kirkpatrick, and Rev. Tim Calloway assisting. Burial was in the Warsaw Cemetery, Warsaw.
Mrs. Maxwell was born March 14, 1923 in Warsaw to the late Harry and Goldie Gullion. She was employed as a secretary for US Soil Conservation in Gallatin County for 36 years. She was a former Sunday school teacher and a longtime church treasurer at Ten Mile Baptist Church. She was also a former Gallatin County Magistrate, the first woman to hold that position in Gallatin County.
Survivors include, one son, Ronald S. Maxwell of Warsaw, two daughters, Harriet Lowe of Sparta, Ky. and Goldie Easton of Warsaw, three sisters, Anita Ryle of Jacksonville, Fl., Margie Green of Burlington, Ky, Hazel Brashear of Erlanger, Ky., and one brother, Clarence Gullion of Walton, Ky., seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Sleet Maxwell who died July 27, 1987.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Ten Mile Baptist Church, 1780 Tapering Point Road, Glencoe, Ky., 41046. Hamilton-Stanley Funeral Home, 14635 Walton-Verona Road, Verona, Ky was in charge of handling the arrangements.
