The Department of Highways District 5 Office has advised motorists traveling to and from Louisville to be aware of construction on Interstate 71 between mile marker 22 in Oldham County, and mile marker 28 in Henry County. Work to perform base repairs and resurface this section of highway began Monday of this week, according to an announcement by Carroll County Judge-Executive Harold “Shorty” Tomlinson’s office.
The roadway may be reduced to one lane in each direction during construction and motorists should expect delays. The speed limit in the work zone will be reduced to 55 miles per hour for the duration of the project.
Motorists may choose to plan a different route of travel, or depart for destinations early to accommodate potential delays, transportation cabinet officials recommend.
