CAMPBELLSBURG, Ky. – Joseph D. “Joe” Taylor, 79, of Campbellsburg died Friday, Sept. 7, 2012, at the Episcopal Church Home in Louisville, Ky.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Sept. 11, at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home. Interment was in Port Royal Cemetery.
Mr. Taylor was the son of the late Abner “Boots” and Goldine Tingle Taylor. He worked as operations department supervisor at Kentucky Utilities Generating Plant in Ghent.
He was a proud veteran, retiring as a master sergeant from the U.S. Air Force. He spent a year in Vietnam, served on dmbassy duty in London and Tel Aviv, and received the National Defense Service Medal.
Mr. Taylor was a member of Port Royal United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Darlene Staples Taylor of Campbellsburg; a daughter, Maresa (Randy) Fawns of Shelbyville; a son, Paul Taylor of Virginia Beach; a stepson, Adam (Deeanne) West of Eminence; a stepdaughter-in-law, Melissa West of Milton; two brothers, Dan Taylor of Turners Station and Larry (Tracy) Taylor of Frankfort; a sister, Ruth Ann (Walt) Test of Bradenton, Fla.; six grandchildren, Joseph and Samuel Fawns, Kennedy Taylor, and Megan, Logan and Hunter West.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a stepson, Eric West.
